How to allow Pay Items to be accessed via timesheets

KB150

Overview

To be able to use a Pay items on a timesheet, the Unitfield on the Pay Item must be measured in hours. This prevents confusion for employees entering the details (e.g. hours versus days)

Once the Unit is set to hours, you will be able to select Allow use in timesheets flag when applying to an employee.

To set the unit of measure of a pay item, go to Payroll > Setup > Pay item and change the Unit field. Be very careful changing this, however: an existing pay item that is measured in a certain unit, when changed to a different unit of measure, will create reporting anomalies so it is better to create a brand new pay item for this purpose.

For example, if you currently pay your annual leave with a pay item measured in DAYS, then create a new pay item called ALHOURS (for example) so that the original reports that used AL in days still make sense.
