How to correct superannuation on prior pay runs

KB152

Once you have processed a Pay run and adjusted superannuation, sometimes you need to adjust this if you have found that it is incorrect. If you have found that the superannuation is incorrect because of inaccurate low limit threshold, upper limit threshold, or rate AND there are still more pay runs to go in this month for the employee, then you don’t need to act: on the very next pay run for this month, Accentis Enterprise will detect that the SGC is not correct for the month for this employee and will compensate accordingly.

Otherwise

  1. Only make an adjustment pay run if the employee has already been paid for the last pay cycle in this month
    1. If you still have more pays to process in the current month, and you have made a manual adjustment to SGC super, then on the next pay run for this month for the same employee Accentis Enterprise will attempt to automatically adjust SGC again to ensure that it matches what it believes to be the correct amount. In this case, wait until after the last pay run for the month before making a superannuation adjustment
  2. Create a new pay run and date it on the current date (if you use STP, you should not back-date pay runs)
  3. Add the employee to the pay run, remove all pay and leave items
  4. On the bottom right of the employee’s pay run details, manually add the amount (plus or minus) to the “Standard” superannuation for an SGC change
  5. Update and apply
  6. Make a payment from your bank account against the super liability account OR wait until you remit your superannuation as you do normally

Using this method, it is all kept in payroll and is accountable when you run superannuation reports.
