Why aren't my discount structures overriding my sales units?

KB562.htm

Overview

Accentis Enterprise allows you to set discount structures based on specific units of measure.

If a Discount structure is applicable when entering an item into a sales record, the Unit field will be set to that discount structure’s units of measure.

If you find that your units are not being overwritten, then your discount structure may have a minimum sale quantity, or another discount structure may be taking precedence.

Another Discount structure is taking precedence

A Discount structure will only override a sales record line’s unit of measure if it is the discount structure with the highest precedence.

  • Discount structures that are based on Customer will always have a higher precedence than those based on Discount type. This is referred to as the Key type.
  • For discount structures that have the same Key type, ones that are based on Item code will be of a higher precedence than those based on Product groups, then Price group, then Suppliers. This is referred to as the Code type.
  • If multiple discount structures with the same precedence could apply, and at least one of them uses Price 1 (the item’s base unit), then the Unit field will not change.

Discount structure with a minimum sale quantity

When an Item code is entered into a sales record, the Quantity for that line is set to 0. Because this is also when the Discount structure would override the line's Unit, if the discount structure has a minimum sale quantity greater than 0, the Unit field will remain as the item’s base unit.

One method to get around this is to create a new blanket discount structure that has the same requirements as the original, but that has no value in the What is the minimum sale quantity? field and no impact on price (i.e. the Discount off list price is 0).
