Why are my Work orders showing a PARTIAL completion status?

KB411

Overview

Sometimes, your Work orders can have a PARTIAL completion status. This means that the requirements of the Work order have been fulfilled, but it has not been fully completed.

There are two situations in which this can happen:

  1. The Work order was finished, however, the “This work order is complete” box was not ticked, or
  2. The quantity requested used to be a higher number and that was changed.

An example of how the second scenario can happen is:

  • You create a Work order and set the Qty requested to 2.
  • You create 1 of these items.
  • You then decide you only needed 1 to begin with and edit the Work order to change the Qty requested to be 1
  • You now have a Work order with all the requested items complete, however, it was never officially completed

This feature can be used to record the fact that you have completed building all products but that you either (a) want to add more to build or (b) have not yet completed a final review before closing out the work order.

How to remove the PARTIAL completion status

  1. Open the Work order in question and go to Action > Finish Work order, or hit Ctrl + F.
  2. Set the Quantity finished as 0.
    1. This is to show that you are not making any more items, but you are flagging the Work order as fully complete.
  3. Tick This work order is complete and hit OK.

Your Work order should now have a COMPLETE status. If you are using a Quicklist to view the Work orders, make sure to click Refresh to view the updated status.
