Why doesn't my PDF or Preview Report fit properly on the page?

KB409

Overview

When PDF reports are generated within Accentis, they are generated according to the dimensions of the current printer you have selected. This is the method used for all PDF generation, both inside and outside of Accentis.

As PDFs come in all shapes and sizes, your computer’s PDF Printer takes the settings of your default physical printer to determine the page size of the PDF. However, this is not very helpful when generating reports if your default printer is set to a page size other than A4 – such as a label printer.

If you generate a report within Accentis and find that the created PDF or preview has, for example, 50 pages instead of the expected 1, it is likely that your computer’s PDF printer has defaulted to the wrong page size.

Solution

The solution for this issue is quite simple – just change the printer from which the PDF generator is taking its settings.

There are two ways you can do this:

Within Accentis

Before you generate your report, change the format from PDF to Print, change the Print Setup to use an A4 printer, then change the format back to PDF, and preview your report. It should now be using the correct page size.

Within Windows

If you want your default printer to be an A4 printer and only use your label printer as needed, open your Windows printer settings and set the desired printer as your default. You can now go back into Accentis and generate the report, and it should be displayed in the correct format.
