Discount structure order of precedence
Overview
When creating sales records, you may have multiple Discount structures that could apply to the same line.
When multiple discount structures could apply to the same sales line, Accentis Enterprise determines which one to use using the discount structure order of precedence.
Any discount structure that does not match the sales line is excluded from consideration. This includes discount structures that:
- Do not match the State
- Do not match the Warehouse
- Have passed their Expiry date
- Have not yet reached their Applies from date
- Have a Minimum sale quantity greater than the sales quantity
- Do not match the Supplier
- Do not match the Unit (if one is specified)
Please note that a Unit is considered specified if it has already been set for that line, or if the item has a Default unit / price specified and Default sales unit override all discount structures enabled.
When adding an item to a new line, the Unit on the sales record may change from the Base unit automatically based on your discount structures.
Only the remaining applicable discount structures proceed to the ranking process.
Applicable discount structures are ranked according to the criteria below. If a higher-precedence structure exists at any level, it is selected.
Priority order:
- Specific State
- All States
Priority order:
- Specific Warehouse
- All Warehouses
Priority order:
- Specific Customer
- All Customers
- Specific Discount type
- All Discount types
Priority order:
- Fixed price
- Discount off list price
- Mark up on cost price
Priority order:
- Specific Item code
- Specific Product group
- Specific Price group
- Specific Supplier
- All Item codes
- All Product groups
- All Price groups
- All Suppliers
The precedence of units/prices depends on whether a Unit has been specified on the sales record.
Because multiple price levels can be assigned to one discount structure, they are compared level-by-level.
If no Unit is specified, discounts are ranked in the following order:
- Price 1
- If tied, Price 2
- If tied, Price 3
If a Unit is specified, only units/price levels lower than the Unit number (on the Inventory form) are considered, and they are ranked in reverse order:
- Highest price level below the Unit.
- If tied, next highest price level below the Unit.
- If tied, lowest price level below the Unit.
For example:
|
Unit number on sales line |
Price level order of precedence |
|
Unit 3 |
Price 3 > Price 2 > Price 1 |
|
Unit 2 |
Price 2 > Price 1 |
|
Base unit |
Price 1 |
If multiple discount structures still have equal precedence, the discount structure with the highest Minimum Sales Quantity takes precedence.
If multiple discount structures remain tied after all previous criteria, the discount structure created first is used.
Although the Expiry date is taken into account for determining which discount structures can be used, it is not used in determining precedence.
As long as they aren't expired, either of two discount structures with a different Expiry date can take precedence over the other (including if no Expiry date is set).
