How to create a sales invoice that allocates to a non-income G/L account

KB75

Sometimes you need to create a Sales invoice to clear out an amount from a Customer, but you don’t want that amount to be posted to an income account. You can create a sales invoice and re-allocate the posting to any account you like, providing you have permissions.

  • Create an invoice as normal
  • Use a Non stock item code such as “GLAccount” or, if you have one that is more appropriate for the purpose such as “Sundry” or “Misc”, then use that
  • Once you have entered the line details and filled in the amounts, click on the button under the item code
    • Now just assign the correct General ledger account to the Income Account box

Anything that exists on a Sales Invoice will usually show in Sales reports, but it will not show on your P&L if you have not allocated the income to an income or expenses account (e.g. you can allocate to an asset clearing or liability or even equity account)

Accentis Enterprise does not validate if you have allocated it to the right account – by manually overriding an item’s G/L account, you must ensure you know what you are doing
